The exhibition was set up on the fence of the Polish Embassy, in an exceptionally prestigious and often-visited district of Brussels popular among diplomats, employees of EU institutions, and visitors to the nearby Cinquantenaire Park and the many shops and restaurants nearby.

The exhibition Postcards from the Visegrad Countries was designed and financed by the Polish Tourism Organisation (POT) on the basis of a concept proposed by the Polish Embassy and the POT International Office in Brussels. The embassies of Czechia, Hungary and Slovakia contributed to the project. Each country provided three photos for the exhibition, showcasing magnificent castles, cities, nature and art. Actual postcards with the same pictures were also produced. They were available for free to people coming to see the exhibition, and aimed to inspire them to travel to one of the V4 countries during this year’s summer holidays.

The exhibition was on display daily until 30 June 2021 in front of the Polish Embassy in Brussels at 29 Avenue des Gaulois.

The Visegrad Group was set up as an alliance of initially three and later four countries, its purpose being to work for European integration and to strengthen military, economic and energy cooperation among the group’s countries. V4 aims to consolidate stability and prosperity in the Central European region. The first top-level summit took place in Visegrad on 15 February 1991. This city was chosen to symbolically connect the summit with the meetings of three kings in Visegrad in 1335 and 1336. They were the result of long-lasting and complicated diplomatic negotiations of the time, and can be viewed as one of the earliest examples of regional cooperation in Central Europe.
