Two international railroad lines cross Katowice. One from Dresden to Lvov, which on its Polish section runs from the border with Germany as far as the border with Ukraine and another one connecting the Baltic areas with the areas of the Adriatic Sea and the Balkans
and whose Polish section runs from the country’s southern border via Katowice and Warsaw to Gdańsk and Gdynia. Katowice is a stop for InterCity and EuroCity connections. The City has direct railroad connections with such cities as Berlin, Bratislava, Hamburg, Prague and Vienna. A train journey to Warsaw takes barely three hours.
