From 10 to12 March 2011, the Didactic Centre of AGH University of Science and Technology (Pavilion U2) in Kraków is scheduled to host the largest IT event in Poland – the 7th Academic IT Festival. World-famous IT specialists were speakers at Festivals so far, among them Andrew Tanenbaum (Minix’s creator), Gilad Bracha (Java’s creator), Chad Fowler (Java’s word-famous developer), Joe Armstrong (Erlang’s creator), and Roman Kluska (Optimus’s founder).
The Academic IT Festival is organised by 4 IT Scientific Circles of universities in Kraków: the Jagiellonian University, the AGH University of Science and Technology, the Cracow University of Technology, and the Cracow University of Economics. The Academic IT Festival is supported each year by the authorities of the city and the province, and the largest universities in Kraków. It is also distinguished by the presence of such sponsoring companies as Google, Microsoft, Adobe, Motorola, SoftwareMind, and Clico.
Participation in the Festival is free of charge. Each year it is in great demand among 1500 university students, students in the upper grades of secondary schools, and IT enthusiasts, arriving to attend lectures given by speakers, and to meet people responsible for innovative advanced technologies and IT industry development in Poland and in the world, as well as to take part in workshops and contests organised as part of the Festival.
