In mid-October, Las Vegas was the scene of two crucial events for the meetings industry. On 11-13 October the first IMEX America exhibition took place, attracting nearly 6 thousand people from all over the world. The SITE international conference was held on 13 October – another perfect opportunity to gain new insights and strike up new relationships.
The IMEX exhibition has already earned high regard among both exhibitors and hosted buyers alike, thanks to the annual event in Frankfurt. It is an intense experience, providing numerous educational and marketing opportunities. Individual meetings and group presentations are great avenues for promoting destinations and establishing numerous valuable business contacts. The first IMEX exhibition in the United States was as popular as its European twin. In cooperation with associations such as DMAI, MPI, ICCA, SITE, and IAPCO, an interesting educational programme was developed in the fields of marketing, technological innovations, social media, strategic planning, and – one of the most popular trends – sustainable tourism.
Owing to the long-standing cooperation between IMEX and SITE, the yearly international conference of SITE members was organised nearby. The theme of this year’s event was “A New Era,” with speakers presenting new methods of conceptualising, initiating and planning events in workshops and networking sessions.
