Almost 2,000 guests from Poland and abroad, a concert of the world R&B star, a special edition of the TV show “Szkło Kontaktowe” (English: Contact Lens) and a party lasting late into the night – this was in short the opening ceremony of the Earth Hall, the most modern concert and entertainment arena at the Poznań International fair, which took place on 15 December.
The ceremony began with a speech by Andrzej Byrt, the President of the Poznań International Fair, followed by Ryszard Grobelny, the President of Poznań praising the attributes of the new concert and entertainment arena. There was also a contribution from Paweł Tamborski, an Under-secretary of state in the Ministry of the Treasury.
After the formal part came a real musical treat. On the stage of the Earth Hall Macy Gray gave a remarkable show of her vocal artistry. Together with her hypnotizing backing vocals and the band, the artist dressed in a pink boa, introduced the audience to an extraordinary ambiance of Rhythm & Blues, making the entire audience dance and applaud.
During the concert she performed her greatest hits such as “I Try” and songs from the latest album “Covered”, from which the public most liked her own interpretation of “Here Comes The Rain Again” by Eurythmics. But Macy Gray got the biggest ovation for her great sense of humour and openness, when she invited Andrzej Byrt to the stage to sing the Christmas carol “Shepherds came to Bethlehem” together.
