On 25 June the Kraków City Hall hosted a conference launching the project entitled “Setting the directions of the meetings industry in Kraków: the evaluation and monitoring of the influence of the meetings industry on Kraków’s economy, by taking advantage of good practices from Switzerland”. The conference was attended by representatives of the city, the tourism industry, and professors. The Manager of the Kraków Convention Bureau, Beata Paliś, presented the main assumptions and goals of the project and encouraged local industry to take part in the study.
The conference featured the subject of the impact that the meetings industry has on the economic development of cities, regions, and the country at large, on the basis of examples from Geneva, Vienna, and Switzerland. Activities planned for the coming three years were presented, laying stress on the economic significance of the meetings industry in Kraków. The meeting also included a discussion on the cooperation between public entities and the private sector on this kind of studies.

Krzysztof Borodako, PhD – a researcher in the Department of Tourism of the Faculty of Management at the Kraków University of Economics.
Enrico Zuffi – A lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland Valais, Director of the consulting company EZ Associates.
Krzysztof Celuch – Krzysztof Celuch CMM, CITE – Manager of the Poland Convention Bureau of the Polish Tourist Organisation.
