Shooting began on the U.S. TV show Facing Waves, which explores the world’s most beautiful destinations for water sports. The region of Warmia and Mazury acted as its focal point. A 30-minute episode presents viewers with ideas on how to spend active holidays in Poland by, i.a. enjoying a kayaking trip down the Krutynia river, water sports on Poland’s most magnificent lakes, staying overnight in waterside campsites, as well as fishing.

The TV crew will visit the most attractive destinations in Mazury: Mrągowo, Giżycko, Mikołajki or Ruciane-Nida. There will be also no lack of meetings with the region’s intriguing history through tours of castle in Ryn or the Wolf’s Lair headquarters. The crew in question consists of not only journalists, but also experienced athletes who will participate in all the filmed activities.

Water tourism is a popular form of leisure especially among U.S. and Canadian travellers, who particularly enjoy lakeside relaxation combined with staying overnight in campsites and kayaking. Facing Waves is intended to show that Poland’s nature can easily compete with the most beautiful areas in the world. An additional advantage involves world-class architectural monuments and other historical highlights, renowned Polish hospitality and exquisite regional cuisine prepared of high-quality natural ingredients.

Facing Waves will be broadcast on FOX Sports Sun channels, Outside Television, Fox Sports Network channels, as well as the online Backpacker TV. The visit was staged thanks to the assistance of the Warmia and Mazury Regional Tourism Organisation.
