In the summer season Polish Tourism Organisation (Polska Organizacja Turystyczna – POT) enthusiastically joins open-air events in Scandinavia, which offer a great opportunity to reach local tourists already planning autumn travels. The Tall Ships’ Races is traditionally a part of this initiative. This year, the event was staged in Denmark and Norway, with Fredrikstad, a city in south-eastern Norway, and Bergen, perfectly linked with Poland, open to cooperation.

The first event to involve POT’s International Office in Stockholm was held in Fredrikstad on 10-14 July. Sunny weather attracted crowds of Norwegians not only representing the region of Østfold, but also the area of Oslo.

The Polish stand was particularly appreciated as the only establishment of this sort promoting a destination. Poland owes its popularity to a well-developed network of flights from Oslo (130 km from Fredrikstad) and the near-by Torp Sandefjord.

Visitors mostly inquired about Gdańsk and the region of Pomorze (Pomerania), Kraków and Warsaw, as well as accommodation in castles and palaces, the complex Via Toll system and stays centred on SPA & wellness. The stand was visited by Iwona Woicka-Żuławska, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Kingdom of Norway.
