Mazowsze Concert Marks 100 Years of Diplomatic Relations Between Poland and Luxembourg

Mazowsze

The world-famous Mazowsze song and dance ensemble performed in the duchy’s capital on Poland’s Independence Day to celebrate the centenary of Polish-Luxembourgian diplomatic relations. The event enjoyed the shared patronage of the Grand Duke and Polish President Andrzej Duda; invited by the Polish Embassy in Luxembourg, the Polish Tourism Organisation was the project’s partner.

The concert took place in the concert hall of the City Conservatoire, which was filled to capacity. The evening began with the Polish Tourism Organisation’s promotional film shown on a big screen, presenting the beauty of nature and historical sites in Poland. Mazowsze’s performance was preceded by a speech from Polish Ambassador to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Piotr Wojtczak, who underlined the long-lasting ties binding the two countries since 1921 as well as joint prospects for the future.

The Mazowsze ensemble’s performance was the crowning point of a year abounding in events aimed at highlighting the centenary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which officially started on 18 April 1921. These events included a special golf tournament at the Golf Club Grand Ducal, of which the Polish Tourism Organisation was an organiser.

Luxembourg is becoming a very valuable incoming tourism market for Poland, among other things due to the growing number of flights: there has been a LOT Polish Airlines connection between Warsaw and Luxembourg for several years, and recently Luxair started offering flights not just to Warsaw but also to Kraków.
