This year’s edition of Vakantiebeurs, one of the largest travel trade shows in Europe, has wrapped up in Utrecht. The Polish stand arranged by the Amsterdam-based office of Polish Tourism Organisation showcased cities, regions and companies operating in the tourism industry.

“Vakantiebeurs is a traditional meeting place of the tourism sector and its customers”, comments Dominika Szulc, head of POT’s International Offices in Brussels and Amsterdam. “I am very glad to have presented the latest group of Poland’s tourist must-sees to the Dutch audience”.

The Polish stand spotlighted cities, regions and companies operating in the tourism industry – the region of Małopolska featuring Kraków, Śląskie voivodeship (Silesia), Dolny Śląsk (Lower Silesia) featuring Wrocław, East Poland House (5 regions of Eastern Poland), as well as two companies hailing from Kraków – 4Travel Polska and Jan-Pol.

Visitors showed interest in Hydropolis in Wrocław, a water-themed knowledge centre boasting a phenomenal multimedia presentation dedicated to water-related facts. The Hydropolis team also arranged exciting water experiments. In addition, Dolny Śląsk was promoted by the Kolejkowo railway model located in the Świebodzki Railway Station in Wrocław – a miniature world perfect for exploring the whole region with the help of scaled-down railway tracks.

“The promotion of Poland had a very broad scope and was accompanied by a social media campaign, outdoor ads in Amsterdam and Utrecht, as well as trade show presentations centred on Małopolska/Kraków and Dolny Śląsk/Wrocław”, explains Marzena Sarzyniak of Polish Tourism Organisation (Polska Organizacja Turystyczna – POT). The event also involved a lottery drawing, with three PLL LOT flight tickets to Poland going to lucky winners. Last but not least, special guests – Polish and U.S. ambassadors to the Netherlands – attended a meeting with Dutch media and travel industry professionals.
