Launch of record-breaking fifth edition of “POLAND SEE MORE - WEEKEND AT HALF PRICE”!

“The new edition of ‘POLAND SEE MORE - WEEKEND AT HALF PRICE’ is coming soon. With two events this year and five in general, the project is growing very dynamically. This autumn a record-breaking number of 757 partners will offer tourists their services at reduced prices. I am delighted that in this way even more people will be able to spend their time in a highly attractive way and explore the charms of Poland”, declares Minister of Sport and Tourism Witold Bańka.

“POLAND SEE MORE - WEEKEND AT HALF PRICE” takes the well-proven formula of weekend discounts offered by Polish cities to the national level. The goal of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism and Polish Tourism Organisation (Polska Organizacja Turystyczna - POT) is to showcase a diverse tourist offer and encourage more and more Poles to travel around the country, also outside of the traditional peak summer and winter seasons. For two years now the initiative is staged twice a year - in spring and autumn. The fifth edition will be launched on 5 October (Friday) and last all weekend long.

“Statistical data confirm that Poles increasingly often stay in domestic resorts. For example, in the first quarter of 2018 the number of trips within Poland grew by 18.5% when compared to an analogous period in 2015. We want to reinforce this trend. Thanks to effective cooperation with partners of ‘POLAND SEE MORE - WEEKEND AT HALF PRICE’ more people can take advantage of the diversified and comprehensive tourist offer available all around the country”, emphasizes Jarosław Stawiarski, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Sport and Tourism.

What is more, the discussed event is annually growing in popularity as a result of tourists showing more interest in each successive edition. 60,000 people participated in the pilot edition, 77,500 in the second one, and already more than 110,000 in the third one. The last spring edition attracted an impressive number of 132,000 tourists.

“It is completely natural that as the number of partners is growing the action is also becoming more popular among tourists. ‘POLAND SEE MORE - WEEKEND AT HALF PRICE’ has now become a regular feature in the weekend plans of many Poles. As the offers proposed by our partners are selling out very quickly I recommend everyone to learn more about the available proposals and make a booking already today. This is a great opportunity to plan three fun-packed days at reduced prices” adds President of Polish Tourism Organisation Robert Andrzejczyk.

As many as 757 partners of “POLAND SEE MORE - WEEKEND AT HALF PRICE” prepared proposals for tourists in its autumn edition, almost 15% more than in spring. The number of applications is once again record-breaking and their list includes not only hotel venues and booking platforms, but also numerous restaurants, museums and other tourist highlights. In addition, the action’s main partners will also be preparing attractive discounts for their services.

As part of “POLAND SEE MORE - WEEKEND AT HALF PRICE” LOT Polish Airlines are offering tickets at attractive prices reduced by 50%. The promotion encompasses all domestic flights between 5 and 7 October. The sale starts today and is valid while supply lasts.

“With our passengers in mind we are continuously expanding the network of flights, securing new planes, improving our on-board package and proposing ticket promotions, such as ‘POLAND SEE MORE - WEEKEND AT HALF PRICE’. While only three years ago we were offering 43 regular flights, today their number amounts to 104. In 2015 we were handling 4.3 million passengers a year and this year we are getting close to 9 million people. I am very glad that passengers are picking our offer more often and hope that actions such as the one discussed will help us attach them to our brand even more”, argues Rafał Milczarski, CEO of PLL LOT.

Polonus coach carrier also prepared a special offer for its passengers. Standard-price tickets, purchased in a single transaction, for round-trip domestic trips made on 5-7 October will be available at a discount of 50%.

“As the national coach carrier, Polonus is once again enthusiastically welcoming the chance to join this magnificent initiative. We unite Poland by offering tourists 40 long-distance routes reaching 124 cities, which connect major urban and tourist centres with Warsaw. Poles fell in love with travelling by coach. As the market leader, we are encouraging potential customers with high-quality services, an attractive offer and promotional prices”, says Maciej Acedański, President of PKS Polonus.

As always, the greatest range of offers will be available for travelers heading to Małopolskie, Pomorskie (Pomeranian), Mazowieckie (Masovian) and Dolnośląskie (Lower Silesian) voivodeships. For the third year in the row, the Małopolskie voivodeship remains the leader in the category of the number of partners with 112 applications. The current edition is also distinguished by exceptionally numerous participants representing the Pomorskie voivodeship (100), followed by Dolnośląskie and Mazowieckie voivodeships (79 partners each).

Accommodation services generate the largest number of discounts (as many as 33%), with sightseeing (20%) and gastronomy (15%) right behind. In addition, the tourist-oriented offer focuses on the field of culture and art (12%), sports and leisure (7%) and services provided by health resorts and spas (5%), as well as guide and transportation services.

Among the promotional partners of “POLAND SEE MORE - WEEKEND AT HALF PRICE” mention is due to PKP Intercity, which will be showing its advertising spot for two weeks in all the displays in IC trains. Moreover, the undertaking will be promoted on 470,000 ticket jackets and through social media.

Already today our trains will take you to many attractive destinations throughout Poland”, emphasizes Marek Chraniuk, President of the Board, PKP Intercity. Trains of the national carrier connect key major cities and popular tourist resorts in the country along with smaller towns. Everyday approximately 360 trains set out on the tracks.
