Congress of engineers in Kraków

The congress in Kraków is scheduled for 6-10 August 2014. Annual preparations, as well as support from the university authorities, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the National Centre for Research and Development contributed to making the Polish candidacy better than the Croatian, Swedish, Turkish and Egyptian ones. These congresses are organised every two years (the last one took place in Madrid in 2012) in different cities of Europe, Africa and Asia each time attracting several hundred scientists and engineers from all over the world. They are also often honoured with the presence of eminent scholars, including Nobel Prize winners.

IEEE is the largest global organisation of professionals that e.g. determines construction and measurement standards for electronic devices (including wifi and bluetooth standards). IEEE unites over 425,000 members (working in the industry, at universities and in governmental institutions) and around 100,000 students and PhD students. Its individual members include 23 Noble Prize winners and corporate members over 200 of the biggest world companies e.g.: Google, Intel, Nokia, Sony, Seagate, Motorola, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Fujitsu and Hitachi.

As stressed by the organisers, the meeting in Kraków, apart from substantive value will be also an enormous chance for promotion of the city and the region among the global opinion leaders.
