ICE Kraków Congress Centre: Inauguration

ICE Kraków Congress Centre - inauguracja działalności

Only a little more time than a month and a half remains before the opening of the ICE Kraków Congress Centre. On the 1st of September, tickets went on sale for the concert 2014. Here and Now, the first event to be held at Krakow’s Congress Centre. But the opening is not only the concert – the inauguration of the ICE Kraków lasts four days!

- The opening of such a top class facility deserves a special setting. The ICE Kraków Congress Centre will be one of the most prestigious conference centres in this part of Europe. It is no wonder then that its inauguration must be equally unique - says Izabela Helbin, Director of the Krakow Festival Office, the operator of ICE Kraków. Two concerts, on the 16th and 17th of October, and Open Days on the 18th and 19th of October will be an opportunity for Krakow residents and invited guests from Poland and all over Europe to get to know the centre and find out what it has to offer. So I am already inviting you to the ICE Kraków inauguration, which will certainly be a very special event for the business tourism industry – adds Director Izabela Helbin.

ICE Kraków Congress Centre’s inaugural event - the concert 2014. Here and Now - takes place on the 16th of October. The main message of the work created by Zbigniew Preisner, one of Poland’s most outstanding composers, especially for the occasion, is the place of human beings in history, modern civilisation and existential transience. Both the music, and the libretto written by Ewa Lipska, refer to Krakow’s past social and cultural atmosphere which will be recalled during the concert in an unconventional and original manner.

This work of music will be performed in the Auditorium Hall, the largest room at the ICE Kraków Congress Centre. For the first time in Poland, the newest forms of technology have been installed to make the venue one of Poland’s best concert halls (sound reflectors installed above the stage, movable screens reflecting sound that are able to regulate the time of after-sounds; seats with the highest acoustic, ergonomic and durability specifications). Thinks to its design and technologies applied, the hall can accommodate cultural events, conferences and congresses up to 2,000 people in the audience.
