Poland Becomes the National EuroVelo Coordination Centre – A Historic Success for the Polish Tourism Organisation
On Wednesday, 24 September 2025, in Balatonfüred, Hungary, during the prestigious Cycling Tourism Conference, Poland was unanimously approved as the National EuroVelo Coordination Centre (NECC). This event marks a breakthrough in the history of Polish cycling tourism and a major success for the Polish Tourism Organisation (PTO) as well as its partner, the Association of Voivodeships of the Republic of Poland.

Poland Joins an Elite Group
The decision made by the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) confirms that Poland meets the highest organisational and technical standards to serve as the institution coordinating the development and promotion of the EuroVelo European cycle route network. With this, Poland joins the ranks of countries that are actively shaping the future of sustainable tourism in Europe.
EuroVelo in Poland: An Impressive Network of Routes
There are as many as six EuroVelo routes running through Poland:
- EV2 Capitals Route,
- EV4 Central Europe Route,
- EV9 Baltic–Adriatic,
- EV10 Baltic Sea Cycle Route,
- EV11 East Europe Route,
- EV13 Iron Curtain Trail.
The total length of the network in Poland is nearly 5,000 km, with an ever-growing portion already fully developed and signposted.

Significance for Polish Tourism
The establishment of the NECC in Poland means that:
PTO will become the central contact and coordination point for all EuroVelo-related activities;
Cooperation among regions, local governments, industry organisations and international partners will be strengthened;
Poland will be able to promote its tourist attractions more effectively by leveraging the growing popularity of cycling tourism across Europe.
Thanks to this decision, Poland becomes not only an important transit country but also a fully-fledged leader in setting standards and ensuring quality within the European cycle route network.

A Historic Moment
“This is a great success for Poland and the Polish Tourism Organisation. The recognition of our country as the National EuroVelo Coordination Centre is proof of appreciation for our efforts so far and a huge opportunity for the development of cycling tourism, which is gaining importance throughout Europe,” emphasised Małgorzata Wilk-Grzywna, Vice President of PTO.
Poland on Europe’s Cycling Map
With this decision, Poland officially strengthens its position on Europe’s cycling tourism map. It is not only an honour but also a commitment – to continue developing infrastructure, improving the quality of offers and promoting green and active leisure.
A Double Success for Poland
During the same conference, an election was held in which Wanda Nowotarska, representative of the Marshal of the Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship for bicycle transport, was elected to the EuroVelo Council – a body overseeing the EuroVelo routes.

Wanda Nowotarska has long been active in promoting cycling tourism in Poland. She is responsible for implementing and promoting routes in the Zachodnipomorskie Voivodeship and also serves as secretary of the Cycling Mobility Coordinators Team of the Association of Voivodeships of the Republic of Poland. Her election to the EuroVelo Council is a great distinction and recognition of Poland’s contribution to the development of the European cycle route network.
Wednesday, 24 September 2025, will go down in history as the day when Poland opened a new chapter in the development of cycling tourism.
