Attractions of the Świętokrzyskie region promoted at golf tournament in Luxembourg

The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg hosted the second edition of the golf tournament for the Polish Ambassador’s Cup. The event was prepared by the Polish Tourism Organisation together with the Polish Embassy in Luxembourg which promoted the tourist attractions of the Świętokrzyskie region and the Green Velo cycling route with its partners.

Golf tournament for the Cup of the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland

The golf tournament for the Polish Ambassador’s Cup was organised for the first time in 2021 as one of the events in the framework of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Poland and Luxembourg. The tournament found appreciation among members of the Golf-Club Grand-Ducal, confirming the rationale for organising promotional events in this elite environment. Golf-Club Grand-Ducal is a ducal 18-hole golf club with prestigious members – representatives of companies, corporations and real estate agencies, doctors, scientists, and lawyers from Luxembourg, a country known for the wealth and high standard of living.

The good reputation of last year's Polish tournament meant that the list of players filled up at a spectacular rate and the number of participants increased from 60 to 70. This year's tournament surprised the members and management of the club with the originality of the attractions provided by the Regional Organisation of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship Province and the organisers of the event.

The players were welcomed by a photo exhibition set up in front of the club's headquarters, showing the most interesting shots of Świętokrzyskie tourist attractions. On the golf course, between the 9th and 10th holes, a colourful promotional stand awaited the guests, where golfers could stop for a moment, rest and taste Polish delicacies, as well as talk to representatives of the PTO, LOT, the region, and the Embassy. The main attraction of this year's event was the Świętokrzyskie capsule with a 5D cinema which the golfers eagerly visited after finishing their game. They could relax there by watching films presenting the biggest attractions of the Świętokrzyskie region and the Green Velo trail.

The gala part of the event started with a performance by Krystian Herba, the six-time Guinness record holder and ambassador of the Green Velo trail, who, as always, surprised the guests with his daring acrobatics on a bicycle.

The tournament culminated with a gala dinner held in the club's restaurant and awarding prizes to the winners. The evening was opened by the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Luxembourg, Piotr Wojtczak, who noted that the tournament for the Ambassador's Cup, in addition to promoting Poland in the area of sports and tourism activities, emphasised the will to fight for solidarity and support for Ukraine in the difficult times of war.

The first prize winners were awarded valuable statuettes created by Katarzyna Kot, a famous Polish sculptor in Luxembourg. Her works are inspired by nature and repeatedly refer to the Polish nature. Kot’s talent has been appreciated by many famous personalities of the Duchy.

The winners of the tournament also received prizes that would allow them to actually see that Poland is as beautiful as presented during the tournament - the President of the Regional Tourism Organization of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship , Marcin Piętak, presented the best golfers with vouchers to the unique hotels in Kielce –  "Binkowski Resort" and "Grand Hotel". The visits to Poland were wonderfully complemented by tickets for flights from Luxembourg sponsored by LOT Polish Airlines. The direct connection between Warsaw and Luxembourg, which has been operating for several years, enjoys great popularity and is the basis for PTO International Offices to promote Poland in the Duchy.

Second places were awarded with beautiful jewellery with striped flint that can be found only in the Świętokrzyskie region, and thus, is unique in the world. Among the prizes were also the best Polish spirits, baskets with Polish specialities, as well as several copies of a guidebook to the green spots of Europe, in which the author of the part concerning Poland is the Belgian blogger "Au Gout d'Emma", sent on numerous press trips to Poland by the PTO International Office in Brussels.

The dinner was also an opportunity to present the tourist values of the region. Małgorzata Wilk Grzywna, the director of the Świętokrzyskie Regional Tourism Organisation, told the guests about the oldest mountains in Europe, cycling and hiking trails, Poland's oldest monastery, and other attractions of the region.

The guests also tasted an exceptional Polish delicacy – caviar from a Masurian farm called "Antonius Caviar," a family company which is currently one of the leading farms of the highest quality sturgeon caviar in Europe. As a souvenir, each tournament participant received a packet of promotional brochures, information about the golf offer in Poland and commemorative golf balls with the logo of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland and of the PTO.

The Regional Tourism Organization of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship and LOT Polish Airlines were partners of the event.
