The Poznań International Fair (MTP), a PCO, which has the recommendation of the Poland Convention Bureau Polish Tourist Organisation, has signed an agreement with the Ministry of the Environment, under which the MTP will be responsible for the logistical organisation of the UN climate conference – COP19. The conference on climate change will be held at the National Stadium in Warsaw on 11-22 November 2013.

The decision of the Ministry to task the Fair with the sensitive part of preparations for the climate summit was taken on the basis of a positive evaluation of the experience of the company from Poznań, which organises nearly 80 fair events and a number of congresses and conferences a year in Poland and abroad. In December 2008, the MTP and Poznań Congress Centre hosted the 14th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The event was attended by over 12,000 guests from 189 countries. The highest organisational quality of the MTP was appreciated at that time by the UN representatives, the Government of the Republic of Poland and event participants.

This year’s 19th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP19) will be accompanied by the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP). For eleven days the capital of Poland will host over ten thousand guests. They will include lead politicians, members of international organisations, businessmen and people of science.

The conference will be accompanied by several dozen scientific and cultural events: meetings, seminars and workshops on climate change and opportunities to mitigate its effects.
